Basic Rules of Pony Land

Frismos makes all of my favourite breeding games but for some reason, I had passed over Pony Land which I believe is one of their older games.  Some players of other Frismos games felt that the graphics were not as sophisticated but now that I have explored the game a little, I find it quite rewarding.  There is a multitude of beautiful Decorations in the Market and the concept of the game, which involves breeding combinations of the Basic Pony types, is very fulfilling because you often can obtain a very expensive and rare pony by using the inexpensive basics.  In this respect, it follows similar principles as Age of Pyramids and Creatures of Olympus rather than those of Fish Adventure Seasons or Birdland Paradise.  In the Fish and Bird breeding game, you cannot breed outside of the type and must have both a male and a female of that type in order to breed those fish at all.  This can make the fish and bird games rather costly for players who fall in love with a specific type of fish or bird.  Even so, I do love all the breeding games I have mentioned.

Is Pony Land a game for children?  Well, obviously you may feel you are a child at heart when you respond to the delight of opening a Neighbour's Gift to find a new Pony inside!  Or, find that when you have bred the same two basic Ponies for the 10th time, you have obtained a NEW variety of Pony that you had wanted for a long time but could not afford to buy in the Market!

Most of my Neighbours/Friends in the game appear to be adults like myself.  It is a game that offers a certain amount of uncomplicated joy to the player.

The reason I write guides for games that I play is twofold.  First,  in order to help other players avoid the same mistakes I made initially before I knew how to play the game for maximum benefit.  The second reason, especially where breeding games are concerned, is to have a guide that I myself can use.  Breeding Lists allow a player to see the possible results from any breeding attempt.

For newcomers to this game, you will find that you can benefit quickly by performing the following actions:

1.  Buy the first Basic Ponies, both a male and a female and breed as often as possible.  (You need not wait to breed a Pony again.  Initial goals include the acquisition of a Chestnut Pony and a Mountain Pony and Moo Pony as well.

Chestnut Pony= Cream Pony + Melanistic Pony
Mountain Pony = Melanistic Pony + Albino Pony
Moo Pony = Melanistic + Cream Pony

I do not know how many guides have been created for this game but it is obvious to me that the time displayed on the basket when the breeding combination is made determined the Pony you will obtain. Longer times signify rarer breeds.  In some cases, you will see a special icon over the basket for a rare breed.  When I bred my Giant Shadow with another Pony, the result was a basket with the icon of a small blue crystal horn over it.  Time given was 72 hours, indicating another rare breed.  The Giant Shadow is the Pony that is offered initially in a special timed offer by Frismos.  Its ordinary cost is 1666 Diamonds.  It is bred from the Flying Pony and the Melanistic Pony.

What is interesting is that I am noticing that the level at which a Pony is unlocked in the Market does not determine its availability when you breed.  In other words, you CAN breed a Pony that will not be unlocked until you reach a higher level.

2.  Buy Feeders and fill them as often as possible.  Filling one of your own feeders costs 3 coins and gives you 3 XP.

3.  Add as many Neighbours/Friends as possible and visit them every day.  You can collect Coins from each and leave a Gift for each.   Doing so is included in sone of your Goals and completion of Goals gives you valuable rewards in the form of Coins, XP and even Diamonds.  Note that you can fill any number of Feeders at a friend's Corral without any Cost to you and you will receive 1 XP for each.  You can pet any number of Ponies at a Friend's Corral to gain 1 Coins.  Cleaning a Friend's Corral will give you 6 XP and 9 Coins.  It may not sound like much but it does add up.

Note that reciprocity is the name of the game.  When you leave a Gift in a Friend's Gift Box, you often will receive one later from that Friend.  Many valuable items can be obtained from Gifts, including Ponies!  In only a week of gameplay, I have received the following Ponies from Gifts:

Rainbow Pony
Arabian Silver Pony
Dark Unicorn
Mohawk Black

The only other Breeding Game I play that sometimes gives Creatures in Gifts is Lovely Pets, another Frismos game.  I was rather amazed, to be honest!

Frismos is extremely generous, as you can see, with respect to Gift contents in this game.  You can receive expensive Decorations that otherwise would require Premium Cash (Diamonds), Coins, high Level Ponies and 'Candies'.

'Candies' are the currency for the Christmas Shuffle game.  It is a game of chance that is available during the Christmas season usually to allow players to win rare Ponies with the turn of a card.  For example, last Christmas featured the Fire Spirit, Earth Spirit and Water Spirit.

A note here:  Higher level Friends tend to have more Corrals and sometimes are less active than the lower level players but you can visit more than one of their Corrals to clean, pet and feed their Ponies to earn valuable XP.  With the lower level Friends, your visits may mean a lot more to THEM and they may reciprocate more regularly with Gifts.

Breeding and selling your Ponies is one of the main actions in this game.  More valuable Ponies cost more to Breed but selling them gives you more Coins as well.

One tip:  You will receive a number of special offers from Frismos when you first begin to play
ANY Frismos game.  It is a good idea to purchase the first special Creature that is offered as you may never see it again.  The second offer in the Pony Land game is another special Pony but I did not opt to purchase that one.  It was the THIRD special offer that was the most useful in the form of Coins and Diamonds.  Buying that ALWAYS gives you a nice headstart in any Frismos breeding game.

IMPORTANT RULE:  BREEDING IS BASED ALWAYS ON TWO BASIC PONY TYPES.  A HYBRID WHEN BRED CAN YIELD ANOTHER HYBRID OF THE SAME TYPE, BUT YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO BREED ANY NEW TYPE FROM IT.

Breeding for Coins
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Beauty is no measure of the monetary value of a Pony nor is the price that you pay for it. Furthermore, you never will be able to sell a Pony for premium Cash (Diamonds).  Most of the rare Ponies sell for 1000 Coins although there are a few exceptions where you can obtain more.  Finding and using the exceptions is a good way to generate cash.

Remember that you will need 60000 Coins to purchase the Nature Pony, one of the Basic Ponies you need for breeding.  You will need 220000 Coins for the Winter Pony.

Ponies that you may receive in Gifts include the Rainbow Pony.  This is one of those rare Ponies that sells for more than 1000 Coins.

Basic Ponies include:

Cream Pony: 50 Coins

Melanistic Pony: 200 Coins

Albino Pony: 800 Coins

Mylar Pony: 58 Diamonds

Nature Pony: 60000 Coins

Pinky: 99 Diamonds

Fluffy Pony: 3200 Coins

Celestial: 199 Diamonds
  Unlock at Level 19

White Stranger: 2300 Coins
  Unlock at Level 21

Winter: 220000 Coins
  Unlock at Level 26

Flying Pony: 199 Diamonds
  Unlock at Level 34

Pattern Pony: 1000000 Coins
  Unlock at Level 50

Spirit of Polar Star:
  Unlock at Level 58

Tinny:
  Unlock at Level 69

Mr. Ranger
  Unlock at Level 96

Unlike most of the other Frismos breeding games, there is no way to breed a Mixed Pony if you have not unlocked the two Basic Pony types yet.  I made the error of buying a couple of Ponies I did not like that much because of the parent types and I have not been able to breed anything from them but clones or the type represented by the other half of the breeding combination.

Here is a link to the Page that has a Breeding List for most of the Pony types:

Breeding Lists

You will find this link above every post and page as well.

Earning Coins
xxxxxxxxxxxx

Most of the Ponies that you breed will sell for a price of 1000 Coins, but there are exceptions, some yielding a lower price and some yielding a higher price.  Sometimes the prettiest Ponies are not the most valuable ones.  As previously stated, the price you pay for any Pony usually has no bearing on its value when sold.  As you continue to breed, you will find that space becomes a consideration in deciding which Ponies to keep.  Many players, including myself, would like to keep one of each type of Pony we breed or acquire but it can be difficult.

For me, earning 60000 Coins to buy a Nature Pony was an achievement. Now I have unlocked the Winter Pony but the price is 220000 Coins and I fear it may take some time to obtain that total.

I had noticed very early in the game that the Rainbow Pony carried a higher selling price than many others.  Now that I am trying to earn over 200,000 Coins for the Winter Pony,  I have begun to search for other Ponies with a high selling price.

Here are some:

Day Pony: 43 Diamonds
  Sell Price: 1200 Coins
  Bred from Cream and Albino
  Time: 6 hours, 20 minutes
  Exp: 46

Rainbow Pony: 65 Diamonds
  Sell Price: 2000 Coins
  Bred from Albino and Pinky
  Often found in gifts
  Time: 1 day, 22 hours
  Exp: 60

Sheepy Pink Pony: 16500 Coins
  Sell Price: 17000 Coins
  Bred from Pinky and Cream
  Time: 1 Day, 9 hours
  Exp 110

Sheepy Cream Pony: 19900 Coins
  Sell Price: 21000 Coins
  Bred from Pinky and Cream
  Time: 2 Days, 2 hours
  Exp. 110

Dark Unicorn: 75 Diamonds
  Sell Price: 1700 Coins
  Bred from Melanistic and Pinky
  Often found in gifts
  Time: 1 day, 19 hours
  Exp: 80

Shire Brown Pony: 12300 Coins
  Sell Price; 13000 Coins
Bred from White Stranger and Cream
  Time: 18 hours, 40 minutes
  Exp. 80

Shire Black Pony: 8800 Coins
  Sell Price: 9300 Coins
Bred from Melanistic and White Stranger
  Time: 18 hours, 40 minutes
  Exp. 50

Zebra: 58 Diamonds
  Sell Price: 1300 Coins
Bred from White Stranger and Albino
  Often found in Gifts
  Time: 1 day, 12 hours
  Exp. 80

It is my understanding at this point that the odds of creating ANY new Mixed Pony through breeding are the same in every case and it is far more likely that you will receive a result that is identical to one of the parents bred than any new Mixed Pony type.  Even so, the Ponies I have listed above are those I obtained fairly early in the game rather than other Mixed Ponies known only through the Market list.

Ponies with sell prices higher than 1000 Coins that I did not obtain yet include:

Cover Yellow: 52 Diamonds
  Sell Price: 1500 Coins
  Bred from Fluffy and Cream
  Time: 13 hours, 45 minutes
  Exp. 50

Mohawk White: 43 Diamonds
  Sell Price: 4800 Coins
  Bred from Albino and Fluffy
  Time: 18 hours, 40 minutes
  Exp. 80

1 Hour Breeds
xxxxxxxxxxxx

Although most of the Mixed Ponies take a long time to breed, there are some notable exceptions and often these include some of the most magical and beautiful Ponies in the game.  I was a little surprised but very pleased to discover some of these 1 hour breeds.  It may be no more than a glitch but as the selling price of these lovely magical ponies is only 100 Coins in some cases, it may be intentional.

The Fairy Butterfly and the Fairyflora both take one hour to emerge from the basket and one more hour to mature.  Both have special beautiful baskets as well.  The selling price is low but they are truly magical.

I suggest breeding one with a Cream Pony if you want more of these lovely Ponies.  The Cream Pony is a 5 minute breed.  If an ordinary basket results, you know it is a Cream Pony but can grow and sell it quickly.  The price of breeding the Cream Pony with one of these magical types is very low as well and can be no more than 47 Coins in some cases.

When to Buy a Premium Pony
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Premium Cash in this game is in the form of Diamonds.  As you need ALL Basic Pony types to be able to breed every Pony that exists in this game, your first priority should be to buy the Basic Ponies with the Diamonds you have saved.    The Mylar Pony costs 58 Diamonds.  Pinky costs 99 Diamonds and the Celestial Pony costs 199 Diamonds.

Diamond Sales occur more often on the Kindle (Amazon) than on Android (Google Play).  If you have a choice of platforms, I would suggest Kindle for that reason.  I prefer Android only because I can play games on my mobile even when there is no wi-fi available where my Kindle operates only at home or at a free hotspot, but you really have an advantage in Frismos games sometimes when you play on a Kindle.  Certainly I have found more sales in Pony Land for my Kindle account than my Android.

Once you have purchased the Basic Ponies that require Diamonds, you can splurge on any adorable Pony that you cannot breed yet because you have not unlocked both parent types if you are too impatient to wait.  Usually the Featured Ponies carry a lower price than many in the Market and often they are Ponies that will be unlocked normally only at a high level.  If, therefore you do not buy them when they are featured and they are bred from high level parent types, you may have a long wait!

When to use Coins for Investment
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

You will see that some of the Mixed Ponies I listed as having good sale prices can be purchased with coins.  The profit when you do that and then sell the offspring is not very high but it is one way to obtain the parent type quickly.  Remember that breeding will give you one of the two parent types if they are mixed Ponies and it is only if they are Basic Ponies that you can obtain a NEW type of Mixed Pony.  So, for example, if you pay 19900 Coins for the Sheepy Cream Pony and breed another Sheepy Cream Pony using it, you can sell the offspring for 21000 Coins.  It is best to use another Pony with a high price for breeding as the results always will be one of the two parent types in this case as the Sheepy Cream Pony is a Mixed Pony.  If you do obtain another Sheepy Cream Pony, it will take 2 days and 2 hours to emerge from its basket.

Frismos Breeding games ALWAYS are waiting games unless you are willing to use Diamonds for speed-ups and this is not recommended for the most part.

Most players will breed the Ponies that they have obtained either through Gifts or Breeding experiments rather than purchasing Mixed Ponies simply for investment purposes in the Market.  If, however, you do not have any Ponies that sell for more than 1000 Coins,  you may consider the option of purchasing one to breed and sell the offspring.  In such an event, it is good to consider more factors than simply price.  Look at the time it takes for the Pony to mature as well as the amount of Experience gained.  It is Exp. Points that allow you to raise your Level to unlock new Ponies.  Time, of course, is relevant only if you are impatient.  There are no time limits on the appearance of any Ponies in the Market, although Featured Ponies will move to the regular Market after a brief interval.

Advanced Breeding Tip
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

If you look at the lists below that give the requirements for buying any new Corral, you will see that, at a certain level, you will be able to buy 3 new Corrals when you reach a new level.   It is at this point that I recommend the following:

All Mixed Ponies are based on specific breeding pairs.  Although it is not essential to have both a male and a female of any type of Basic Pony, it can be useful to have one male and one female of every type unlocked.

When you have a space limitation, it can be difficult to find space for new Ponies, but once you are able to have three new Corrals at each new Level, I suggest you place a male and a female from two Basic types and then breed those exclusively in one of the Corrals and do the same with a different pair type in the other two new Corrals.   It is easier to remember which ones you wish to breed that way.  There are specific Ponies I would rather obtain, and this is the way I give a good chance to the plan.

Cost of Corrals
xxxxxxxxxxxx

I wish I had logged this from the start but I did not do so.  In many of the Frismos games, including Pony Land, a new space (Corral, Tank, Cage) is unlocked at a specific Level.  The cost tends to increase incrementally.

Corral 8: 20,000 Coins
  Unlocked at Level 28

Corral 9: 30,000 Coins
  Unlocked at Level 30

Corral 10: 35,000 Coins

  Unlocked at Level 38

Corral 14: 62000 Coins
  Unlock at Level 39

Corral 15: 65000 Coins

At Level 40, you actually will unlock three new Corrals.  The first will cost 65000 Coins, but the second, which is the 16th Corral, will cost 10 Diamonds.  The third, which is the 17th Corral, will cost 13 Diamonds.  After that, you will be able to purchase 3 new Corrals at each Level for Diamonds, increasing price a little up to 25 Diamonds,  until you reach Level 50, when you will be able to purchase only 2 new Corrals but at the same price of 25 Diamonds.
